In mid-June, Cemstone was asked by the sustainability committee of the American Public Works Association – MN Chapter (APWA-MN) to host a tour of Dakota Aggregates and the Rosemount Ready-Mix Plant to display the environmental and sustainability efforts, Cemstone makes in mining and creating concrete. A group of 28 city, county and consulting engineers, were guided through the facilities by Cemstone personnel where they discussed our sustainability efforts. This included the use of an all-electric dredge, the ultra-fine recovery system, recycling and reuse of water, use of fly and slag and low carbon mixtures.

Many of the attendees commented on how great the tour was and that they learned extensively about mining and concrete production. Cemstone has been a platinum sponsor of the APWA-MN chapter for the past 3 years which has resulted in exposing our companies’ products and services to city and county officials. The late Jim Grothaus initiated our sponsorship where he was a respected board member and colleague.
