AT ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH
Bonin Field lies tucked away behind St. Patrick Church along County Road 56 in between New Prague and Prior Lake, MN. The field sits at the bottom of a hill and has a highway along the first base side. Bonin Field is home to three adult baseball teams including the St. Patrick Irish and eight youth teams. The stands between the Mini Met (Jordan, MN) and the Memorial Park Baseball Stadium (New Prague, MN) unveiled major renovations for the 2018 MBA State Tournament. While there are not visions for hosting a state tournament at Bonin Field, the St. Patrick Athletic Association wants the field to be considered as a great park to visit.

“We want people to want to come to St. Patrick,” said President Mike Sticha of the St. Patrick Athletic Association. “We want to make our ballpark a destination. It’s been a lifelong goal, from a community perspective it solidifies us as a true facility. We want to be part of that conversation when people think about going to a ballgame. There are so many great ballparks around here and we want to dip our toes in that water.”
The Athletic Association has continually invested and fundraised to make the field the best it can be. In 2019, the Minnesota Twins Community Fund granted a donation for the association to complete a 30-year-old backstop with a concrete knee wall, black netting and steel poles. An ambitious capital campaign of $750,000 was launched in 2020 to raise money for further improvements, including LED lights. Recently, River’s Edge Concrete partnered with the Cemstone Placing division to successfully deliver and place concrete walls for the field’s new dugouts. Drew’s Flatwork will return in a couple of weeks to complete the remaining pavements for the project.
