The time at the facility consisted of presentations from Jim Grothaus, Cemstone, Elena Youngdale and Lucas Kaari, TCC Materials, and Matt Mettling from Dakota Aggregates. Students learned about the history of the UMORE Facility, the geology of the area, and basic principles of cement, concrete, and mining, and the Concrete Industry Management Program that is offered by South Dakota State University. Each student participated in a hands-on experience and a tour of the mining and ready-mix facilities at UMORE. Student requirements to participate in the camp include entering grades 7–9 (as of 2024–2025 school year), GPA of at least 2.0 and have an interest in engineering, science, transportation, or technology-related careers.
