Huntington Bank’s Concrete
Concrete played a central role in the project, serving as the backbone of the structure—from the foundation and seating bowl to the concourses and exterior elements. Ready-mixed concrete provided the strength and stability needed to support more than 50,000 fans, while also allowing for architectural flexibility in the stadium’s modern design. The use of locally produced materials helped reduce transportation impacts and supported Minnesota’s construction industry.
Complementing the concrete’s strength, the stadium’s exterior features warm tones of brick and concrete block that echo the traditional collegiate architecture found across the U of M campus. This thoughtful combination of materials blends old and new, creating a space that feels both cutting-edge and connected to its historic surroundings.
From the first kickoff to the roar of the crowd on game day, Huntington Bank Stadium stands as a true example of how durable materials like concrete and masonry can help shape iconic spaces that bring communities together—for generations to come.
