Another paving job that was spotlighted was at Jackson airport in Southwestern Minnesota. Thanks to the late Jim Grothaus, P.E., Cemstone’s Senior Business Development Engineer, Cemstone became involved with the Minnesota Airports Conference within the Aggregate Ready-Mix Association of Minnesota. During the conference, Grothaus offered the many benefits of concrete paving and the possibility of using concrete on the runway at Jackson Airport. After a meeting with the project designer, concrete was chosen as a long-term solution for the 3,600-foot runway.

In Saint Peter, Minnesota, new roundabouts were paved with concrete at two high-traffic intersections. Concrete is the ideal pavement choice for roundabouts because of the constant turning, braking and accelerating movements of vehicles within roundabouts. The rigidity of concrete resists these stressors. Concrete roundabouts typically remain in service for decades with minimal long-term maintenance.

Finally, at Lucette Brewing in Menomonie, WI a specialized fiber conversion pour was completed in the brewery’s parking lot. What started as a gravel parking lot has transformed into a sleek, durable and sustainable concrete parling lot. The fibers included within the concrete control cracking, increase durability and create a distributed internal network that holds the concrete together under intense stress. This transformation elevated Lucette Brewery’s curbside appeal, offering visitors a stylish and inviting first impression.
