CHUTE SAFETY
PREVENTING COSTLY DAMAGE AND AVOIDABLE INJURIES
CHUTE SAFETY
Every year, preventable property damage and injuries occur due to issues with the ready-mix truck chute. These incidents include damage to window and door frames, parked vehicles, and other property. Injuries can happen when someone is struck by a moving chute if the lock fails or while working under suspended chutes.
• Chute must be locked prior to guiding truck into place.
• Ensure clear communication between the mixer driver and the spotter.
• Do not attach extension chutes to the fold-over chute until the mixer is properly positioned for the pour.
• Stay attentive when guiding the chute into and out of an opening.
• Park vehicles away from the mixer’s access path.
TO PREVENT INJURIES AROUND CONCRETE CHUTES:
• Chute MUST be locked
• Never position yourself directly beneath the chute.
• Be aware of the chute’s swing radius.
• Exercise extra caution when working within the swing radius.
